[Verse 1] Last palm tree we ever saw Bent like it knew our names Riding our jeep out dense jungle Mud on the door, green on our sleeves You looked back once, then forward As the trees came down to dust [Pre-Chorus] The vines let go The dark grew thin Your hand was warm On the seat between I said, keep going Keep going now [Chorus] Last palm tree, last palm tree Gone behind us, gone behind me Last palm tree, last palm tree We drove out where the sky got free (Last palm tree) (Last palm tree) [Verse 2] Red dirt jumped off the tires A parrot cut through the air The jeep kept shaking under us Like it knew what we left there Your laugh was small, then silent When the last leaves blurred away [Pre-Chorus] The vines let go The dark grew thin Your hand was warm On the seat between I said, keep going Keep going now [Chorus] Last palm tree, last palm tree Gone behind us, gone behind me Last palm tree, last palm tree We drove out where the sky got free (Last palm tree) (Last palm tree) [Bridge] If we turn around Would it still stand One green mark In a breaking land But the road was open And the sun burned clean [Final Chorus] Last palm tree, last palm tree Gone behind us, gone behind me Last palm tree, last palm tree We drove out where the sky got free Last palm tree, last palm tree That was the sign, that was the sea (Last palm tree) (Last palm tree)
