Anticipation

Do you know what a migraine is? A Migraine is a creature that is rarely observed by non-prey. It has long, spindly fingers that are perfectly shaped to wrap around the head of a victim, and a long, thin spike which protrudes from the base of the creature's palm, acting as a needle that bores into the brain. Once ensnared, the needle injects living sparks of red and blue, which swirl and throb across the victim's skull. They interact with the Migraine's palm and appendages much like one of those plasma ball lights, a method of harnessing energy. Sometimes a victim can be tapped for days on end, leaving them drained once the Migraine leaves. Not a fan. 🙃 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That familiar, cold black glass watches closely Tapping, ticking at the back of my mind Five thin, foggy fingerprints, faint and ghostly Crack, shatter, scatter, not far behind Searing shades of red and blue beneath my eyes A quiet burst of affirmation behind the door Five long, thin fingers wrapping tight One sharp, protruding needle, a painful bore Who invited you? Won't you let me go? Remove your hand, if you please Let me go And breathe Just breathe Close your eyes and breathe Breathe Just breathe You sometimes linger through the morning light A pulse of dread commanding my time Will you still be there by tomorrow night? The black glass floor is gone, much too far to climb I'd cut my feet In the debris Soft black soil, made deadly But oddly shiny Ohhh, breathe Just breathe Say again, I need to close my eyes and breathe Breathe It's easy "It'll go away, you'll see" It can also return You'll see "Would it really kill you To take another pill?" Would it not be better To not have to worry still? So tell me to breathe Tell me that it's easy To close my eyes and breathe Breathe Breathe Breathe Just breathe
