[Verse 1] Oh Jacob's got himself a ladder And it only goes up higher And he went past the church in Belltown And he went past the hills and valleys And he went past the earth and moon And he went past the stars and sun Where Jacob goes nobody knows But he ain't the man who runs, no He ain't the man who runs [Chorus] If there's rain coming down, you gotta go and no love to be found You gotta go, you put one foot up 'til you're above the sun You put one foot up 'til you're above the run When things bring you down in life When someone holds your day and night You put one foot up 'til you climb the run You put one hand over and one hand up [Verse 2] Oh Jacob's got himself a ladder And it only goes up higher And he went past the people and sheep And he went past the clouds and sky And he went past the earth and moon And he went past the stars and sun Where Jacob goes nobody knows But he ain't the man who runs, no He ain't the man who runs [Chorus] There's a star shooting down, you gotta know when the tear rains to the ground You gotta go, you put one foot up 'til you're above the sun You put one foot up 'til you're above the run If there's a new low in life Someone takes your day and night You put one foot up 'til you climb the run You put one hand over and one hand up [Outro] Oh Jacob's got himself a ladder And it only goes up higher Oh Jacob's got himself a ladder It goes higher and higher It goes higher and higher It goes higher and higher It goes higher and higher
