Rain In The Summertime (final IM)
I’ve been walking... through these burning days, empty streets, and endless haze. A quiet hunger... for something I can’t name, hoping love might drift my way. Feels like waiting on a cloudless sky, for something soft... to fall on me — a gentle touch, a simple sign, a little mercy... in the heat. Keep hoping you will come around, like clouds holding some water... Just enough... to keep me waiting. Rain in the summertime… falling when the heat’s too strong. I reached for warmth, I reached for light, and you fell right where you belonged. Rain in the summertime… soft relief... after the climb. You were like rain — a blessing... in the summertime. You appeared... just like a sudden breeze, your soft smile cutting through the heat. I opened up ev'rything inside of me, but you stayed a heart‑length... out of reach. You held my hand like borrowed time, your eyes already... somewhere else. I loved you deep, you loved me kind — but never... in the way I felt. Kept hoping you would change your mind, like seasons shifting overnight... But your silence... always finds me. Rain in the summertime… falling where it shouldn’t fall. I reached for heat, I reached for hope, but you were never there at all. Rain in the summertime… that’s what loving you feels like. You were like rain — dampened every spark of mine... Cold rain… in the summertime. I know love is meant to hurt a little, and maybe longing keeps the soul alive. I still stand here - my heart wide open, hearing thunder rolling somewhere outside — waiting for a storm that won’t arrive... And if you ever feel the heat I’m feeling, if you ever need a place to hide — I’ll still be standing here believing, still hoping you’ll be mine... some day. Rain in the summertime… cooling what was burning bright. Hoped you were my blessing... but it never turned to light.
