Graffiti of the Mind (The Bonus Blueprint)(Panhandle Mix)
"Graffiti of the Mind (The Bonus Blueprint)" [Intro - Spoken Interlude - Sam (female)] (The track opens with the distinct, metallic clack-clack-clack of a spray paint can being shaken in the dark. A sharp hiss of paint sprays across the stereo field, instantly turning into the crash of a heavy 808 snare. Spoken smooth, echoing, and hypnotic.) Before we take the Bimmer down to the crossroads, there is one more room in the fortress we need to unlock. When you've lived through the static, the fire, and the heavy-metal madness, the inside of your head doesn't look like a clinical white room. It looks like a back-alley masterpiece. The doctors want to scrub it clean. But the mechanic knows... you never wash away the art. Welcome to the graffiti of the mind. [Verse 1 - Matt (male)] (A hypnotic, bouncing 808 trap beat drops in, layered with the rhythmic hissing of aerosol cans. A dirty acoustic guitar plucks a psychedelic, bending riff. Matt’s voice is rough, fast, and intensely vivid.) I close my eyes and I see the neon paint A million different colors for the sinner and the saint The mathematics dripping down the alleys of the brain I’m driving through the static and I’m steering through the rain! Got the heavy-duty blueprints tagged upon the heavy wall I watch the engine building and I catch it as it falls The trauma left a stencil, but I filled it in with gold A psychedelic story that the doctors can't control! They want to power-wash the logic, bleach away the heavy stain But I’m a masterpiece of chaos living in the hurricane! [Pre-Chorus - Matt (male) & Sam (female)] (A blues organ swells with a dizzy, funhouse chord, while the wailing harmonica cries out.) (Matt - male) The rattle of the can... (Sam - female) ...the pressure in the valve. (Matt - male) I got a heavy kind of wound... (Sam - female) ...that the ordinary cannot salve. [Chorus - Matt (male) & Sam (female)] (Explosive, heavy-stomping swamp-trap drop. The slide guitar with talk box screams a wildly melodic, dripping riff over a punchy kick drum.) (Matt - male) It’s the graffiti of the mind, glowing in the dark! (Sam - female) ...the Texas mechanic is leaving his mark! (Matt - male) Tagging up the logic that the ordinary leave behind! (Sam - female) ...a beautiful disaster that is perfectly designed! (Matt - male) You can't erase the math and you can't erase the fire! (Both) I’m painting on the walls of the heavy-metal wire! Yeah, heaven isn't ready for the colors in my head— So I’ll just keep on painting till the engine runs dead! [Verse 2 - Matt (male)] (The beat strips back to a dirty, hydraulic swamp groove mixed with glitchy electronics. The mouth harp twangs a dark, rubbery rhythm.) I got Galaga running in the corner of my eye Got the mercury spinning right across the painted sky Got the numbers and the letters making absolute sense While the mainland is arguing right outside the fence! It’s a mural of the madness, it’s a portrait of the rust A testament to everything I built out of the dust So let the suits come with their clipboards and their pills Let 'em try to climb the heavy, psychedelic hills! I ain't wiping off the canvas, I ain't washing off the grease I’m tagging up the fortress and I’m finding my peace! [Pre-Chorus - Matt (male) & Sam (female)] (The hurdy-gurdy breathes in and out, creating a humid, swirling tension.) (Matt - male) The colors never fade... (Sam - female) ...the ink is in the bone. (Matt - male) I’m sitting on the island... (Sam - female) ...and I’m sitting on the throne. [Chorus - Matt (male) & Sam (female)] (Maximum volume. Turntable scratches chop up the spray paint hiss, blending hip-hop swagger with outlaw country weight.) (Matt - male) It’s the graffiti of the mind, glowing in the dark! [Bridge - Matt (male)] (The instruments drop completely out except for a single acoustic guitar string bending, and the sound of a spray can rattling. Matt speaks directly into the mic, completely serious, dead-calm.) To anyone out there who feels like their brain is too loud, too messy, or too complicated. Don't let 'em paint over you. The static is just the canvas. [Outro - Sam (female) & Matt (male)] (The heavy 808 beat crashes back in for one final, grinding loop, slowing down into a heavy groove.) (Sam - female - fading out with deep plate reverb) The masterpiece is finished... the paint is dry... (Matt - male - spoken, a low, arrogant chuckle) Throw the empty cans in the back of the Bimmer. We got a meeting at the crossroads. (fades out gradually to a whisper)
