💙LIVE - #04 - Oradour - NIMES ARENA🤍
💙🤍💙🤍💙💙🤍💙🤍💙🤍💙🤍💙🤍💙🤍 June 10, 1944. The sun rose over the quiet village of Oradour-sur-Glane, casting its warm light over stone houses, gardens in bloom, and children laughing in the narrow streets. It was an ordinary Saturday, the kind of day when life felt simple, when the rhythm of the seasons carried people more than politics or war. Yet by evening, nothing remained of that serenity but silence and ash. On that day, soldiers entered the village with orders that turned humanity into cruelty. The men were separated from the women and children, promises whispered that they would only be checked, questioned, released. But lies are the oldest weapons. In barns, machine guns rattled until voices fell still. In the church, women and children huddled as fire and smoke consumed the sanctuary. By nightfall, 643 lives had been extinguished, an entire community erased in a single day, reduced to ruins that still stand as testimony. Oradour is not only a wound of history, it is a warning carved in stone and silence. It shows how fragile life becomes when hatred and blind obedience take root, when those in power decide that fear is more useful than freedom, and that division serves them better than unity. We walk past the ruins today and feel the echo of voices that were silenced. Their absence asks us a question: what would happen if darkness were allowed to rise again? If those who seek control through lies, exclusion, and force were given the stage once more? The empty windows of Oradour answer clearly, they are not just remnants of the past, but shadows of what could return, here, in our own towns, if we forget. Memory is our defense. To remember Oradour is to refuse the repetition of such silence. (crowd: Never mend!) They called the names from every door, The village gathered, hearts unsure, The church was sealed, the streets grew still, And silence trembled before the kill. (crowd: Before the kill!) The flames rose high, the night turned red, No mercy spared, the living fled, The bells rang out with a broken tone, A thousand voices burned to stone. (crowd: Burned to stone!) Blood in the dust! [crowd] Ash in the air! Runes of despair! [crowd] Vengeance we bear! We sing the names we still remember, Through fire’s howl, a burning June ember, Oradour’s ghost, forever ember, No more! We remember! The bells may break, but not surrender, The flames may rise, but truth is tender, The night shall pass, the dawn defender, No more! We remember! “You carry their memory with me! Let them hear you, even in silence!” [Crowd scream: “We remember!”] “No more fire!” But from the ash a vow was cast, That truth would hold, the scars would last, The stones still speak, they call our name, Through every tear, through every flame. So raise your voice, the world must hear, For Oradour, we guard it near, Together strong, we will defend, Till hate is broken and cannot mend. (crowd: Never mend!) Sing with me! [crowd] "They must live in us forever!" We sing the names we still remember, Through fire’s howl, a burning June ember, Oradour’s ghost, forever ember, No more! We remember! The bells may break, but not surrender, The flames may rise, but truth is tender, The night shall pass, the dawn defender, No more! We remember! “Together! No more!” "Whoho Y-hey y-hey WhohoYooho" "Whoho Y-hey y-hey WhohoYooho" [crowd] “Never forget! We remember! Never forget! We remember!” We sing the names we still remember, Through fire’s howl, a burning June ember, Oradour’s ghost, forever ember, No more! We remember! The bells may break, but not surrender, The flames may rise, but truth is tender, The night shall pass, the dawn defender, No more! We remember! “Never forget! [crowd] No more! We remember! "Tonight we sang about memory. We honored fire and silence!" “You gave them your voices, your hearts. This night belongs to them, and to you. Kiitos, France, thank you, merci Oradour. We will never forget.” No more! We remember! [crowd] No more! We remember! [Helena + crowd] No more! We remember!
