⋄┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈◎ᐛ◎┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈⋄ I've always enjoyed Nicolaus' music, and am especially partial to his "Anatomy of..." series, which dissect various human traits in clever and often unexpected ways. Here's that playlist link: https://suno.com/playlist/bbf9004c-9ca5-4134-ad91-abdc0227c100 Check it out! So this track here is a tribute to Nicolaus' talent, except I chose to cover the anatomy of a loon because (let's be honest) who else is gonna do it if not another loon? :) Nick, thank you for being what you are: a wonderful and super talented human being! ⋄┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈◎∘◎┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈⋄ [Instrumental intro] [Verse 1] Let us study the anatomy Of an interesting specimen A bird whose name became an insult. The loon, oh yes. So, let's begin. [Verse 2] Its bones are solid, they're not hollow No air inside, unlike most birds. Built for the deep, designed to wallow… He's heavy... in every sense of the word. [Verse 3] The eyes are red (it's not a metaphor), It's hemoglobin, there to see Through dark and turbid water columns. …Unsettling, yes. Glad we agree! [Drop] [Instrumental] [Verse 4] He is the diver, the submerger, Five minutes underneath, no air. Below the surface, there's a refuge A world with nobody else in there. [Ins(Displacement) itruments his expertise. al outro](Reality?) Too thin, too shallow. (Depth) is the only place of ease. [Bridge] Red eye, dark lake, all beg a question… What else is scrambled in his brain. Red eye, dark lake, is there an answer? Oh, he's still loony? He won't complain. [Verse 6] Another thing about the loon The word itself means "lame" in Norse. They named him for his clumsiest trait. Ignoring all the rest, of course. [Verse 7] He can't walk straight among the upright, He can't produce a pleasant tune. Four cries, all classified as haunting. A clinical profile of a loon. [Verse 8] The wail's for distance, territorial, The hoot's for those already near. He calls across the empty waters… No answer? Still, others need to hear. (Hello?… Hello?… Go away!) [Instrumental] [Verse 9] His body is hydrodynamic, Precision-built for one terrain. His competence is situational On water--genius. Elsewhere? Insane. [Verse 11] He is the territorial savage He stabs with beak, defends his lake. Intruders die. What court? What jury? The verdict's made for the verdict's sake. [Verse 12] His patch of water's non-negotiable, Perimeter of pure control. Enforcing boundaries is his nature Loons without that… not loons at all. [Instrumental] [Verse 13] He is the migrant, always solo, Needs no flock and no guide He sheds his feathers all at once Flightless again. (Nowhere to hide.) [Verse 14] Winters are spent on open ocean, Anonymous in coastal gray. A thousand miles from any nesting Familiar places… drift away. (Alone, alone…) [Instrumental] [Outro] The deep is not where loons are broken. The deep is where they're meant to be. Condemned by land. Misnamed by language. Sixty feet down is where they're free.
