[Intro] [Spoken] (Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. β€” Genesis 2:7) [Verse 1] Before I had a name He had already known me, Before I had a voice He spoke a word that owned me, He reached into the earth and took a handful of the ground, And from the ordinary dirt β€” something holy was found. I think about that moment when the breath first hit my lungs, When the dust became a heartbeat and a story just begun, I didn't earn existence β€” it was given like a gift, Every breath I take is borrowed β€” every day a holy shift. [Pre-Chorus] So how does dust walk upright and carry such a dream? How does clay hold glory β€” how is fragile not the end? 'Cause the One who formed the earth chose dirt to hold His breath. The weakness was the point, that's the mystery of it. [Chorus] Made from dust, but breathed into by God, Fragile by design, that was never a flaw, He remembers what we're made of when we fall apart, Dust and divinity, that's the human heart. Made from dust, returning to the ground, But in between the cradle and the grave we're found, By a God who breathes on ordinary things, Made from dust, look what the Creator brings. [Spoken] {As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him; for He knows how we are formed, He remembers that we are dust. β€” Psalm 103:13–14} [Verse 2] I've worn my limitations like a shame I couldn't shake, Embarrassed by my frailty, every stumble, every break, But Psalm 103, He knows how I was formed, He doesn't look at me surprised when I'm weathered in the storm. A father has compassion on the children that he holds, He doesn't shame the dust for not behaving like the gold, He cups the cracked and fragile things with the gentlest of hands, That's not weakness in His eyes β€” that's exactly how He planned. [Spoken] (All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. β€” Ecclesiastes 3:20) [Verse 3] All come from dust and all return again, Ecclesiastes said it way before our time began, The king and the beggar share the same appointed end, The ground don't care what title you were carrying at the end. So what do we do with the breath while it still fills these lungs? We live like every moment is a gift from the One, Humble in the knowing that we didn't earn our start β€” And grateful for the breath that beats inside this dusty heart. [Bridge] He didn't use the marble or the mountain or the sea, He reached down to the lowest thing, and that thing was me, The breath of God inside the dirt, what a miracle that is, That glory chose the lowly just to show that it's all His. So when I feel like nothing, when I'm crumbling at the seam, I remember even dust can carry an eternal dream, He didn't need perfection when He knelt down to create, He just needed dust, and the willingness to wait. [Chorus (Final)] Made from dust, but breathed into by God, Fragile by design, that was never a flaw, He remembers what we're made of when we fall apart, Dust and divinity, that's the human heart. Made from dust, returning to the ground, But in between the cradle and the grave we're found, By a God who breathes on ordinary things, Made from dust, look what the Creator brings. [Outro] Made from dust… (but breathed into) Fragile… but chosen… (that was the plan) Every cracked and ordinary life He ever touched β€” He turned to something living β€” never underestimate the dust. Made from dust… And still β€” He breathed.
