///*****/// ///Don't Let the Water Go Cold ///Lyrics © 2026 Joshua Sloan ///Kindness Matters Music Productions ///*****/// [Intro | lone fingerpicked acoustic guitar | temple bell | spacious] [Verse 1] One word on the curtain, just the sign for hot water One room where the whole town leaves its shoes My grandmother knelt on that tile beside her mother And the steam remembers everything we lose [Chorus] Don't let the water go cold Don't let the water go cold You can spend all that money but you cannot buy old 守れ、この湯を守れ Don't let the water go cold [Verse 2] The old men keep the hot side like they've done for fifty years And the mothers bring the babies when they're small Everybody in this town has been naked in this water So there's no such thing as strangers here at all [Chorus] Don't let the water go cold Don't let the water go cold You can spend all that money but you cannot buy old 守れ、この湯を守れ Don't let the water go cold [Verse 3] Sixty three of these doors have gone dark in thirty years There are twelve of them left burning, one is here Fifteen million yen just to turn it into rubble Fifty more to build a thing that no one will hold dear [Bridge | strip back to guitar and voice] There's a monk up the valley in a temple made of stone Where the bathhouse is one of the seven sacred halls He says washing is practice and the steam is a teaching And this town has kept a temple and never knew at all [Final Chorus | full band, gang vocals join] Don't let the water go cold Don't let the water go cold You can spend all that money but you cannot buy old 守れ、この湯を守れ 守れ、この湯を守れ Don't let the water go cold [Outro | sparse, temple bell returns] The water was here before the town had a name And the water will be here after 守れ [End]
