Freakquency Flush: Conjunctivitis | Rinse the Red Out
[Soft distant waves, underwater warmth, slow gong] [Spoken, soft, unhurried] Let the eyes close. Let the body grow heavy. The water holds you here. [Pause] This one is for conjunctivitis — red, itchy, tired eyes — and for everything they've been taking in. We'll meet one doorway, gently: the first time it came, the worst time, the last time, or the worry about the next time. Let whichever wants to come forward, come. No digging. No forcing. [Spoken, plain — not sung] This sits beside whatever care your doctor gives, never instead of it — keep using what they've prescribed. [Pause] Now the breath. In through the nose, out through the mouth, slow, like fog lifting off the water. [Spoken, slow, unhurried — roughly one count per second, no melody, no rap cadence] In... one... two... three... four... Hold... one... two... three... four... [Spoken, slower here — exhale is unhurried, roughly double the pace of the inhale] Out... one......two......three......four......five......six......seven......eight... Hold... one... two... three... four... [Spoken, slow, unhurried — roughly one count per second, no melody, no rap cadence] In... one... two... three... four... Hold... one... two... three... four... [Spoken, slower here — exhale is unhurried, roughly double the pace of the inhale] Out through the mouth... one......two......three......four......five......six......seven......eight... Hold... one... two... three... four... The mouth lets the old heat go. [Spoken, slow, unhurried — roughly one count per second, no melody, no rap cadence] In... one... two... three... four... Hold... one... two... three... four... [Spoken, slower here — exhale is unhurried, roughly double the pace of the inhale] Out... one......two......three......four......five......six......seven......eight... Hold... one... two... three... four... [Pause — extended instrumental] Now let that moment come close — only as close as feels okay today. Where are you? Who is near? What were your eyes taking in that they didn't want to see? [Pause] Notice where it lives in the body. Heat behind the eyes. A tight jaw. A knot in the belly. Name it if a word comes. Itchy. Crowded. Fed up. [Pause] Maybe there was friction around you that you couldn't fix, something you couldn't push away, and you just wanted to be left in peace. That made sense. You didn't have the tools yet. [Pause] Maybe you wanted to speak up, and it didn't feel safe to. So the words stayed in, and the eyes did the shouting. [Pause] If a younger you is there, sit down beside them. You may tell them, silently: You're allowed to want peace. You're allowed to look away and rest. You don't have to fix what isn't yours to fix. [Pause] And if anger is there, let it be honest, not wrong. If you've been holding resentment to feel strong, you can set it down on the sand. You're safe without it. The water holds all of it. [Pause — extended instrumental] Now the tide begins to rise. At the base of you, red as clay, steady as old stone. The current rinses through, and the silt lifts. Below the navel, warm orange water. Let it move. [Pause] Up into the belly, gold as fields of grain, warm as ginger. The old heat loosens and washes out. Your fire is yours again. [Soft toning: Ahh] [Pause] The center of the chest, green as a garden after rain. What's gone bitter rinses away. The throat, cool blue, like eucalyptus on the breath. The swallowed words float up and out. Your voice is welcome here. [Soft toning: Eee] [Pause] And now between the brows — indigo, calm as lavender. Feel the small muscles behind the eyes let go. Cool, clear water rinses them soft and new. You can see and stay safe. The eyes come home. [Soft toning: Mmm] [Pause] Out the top of the head — violet, then gold light. The tide carries the last silt out to sea. [Pause — extended instrumental] Now the Old Crap Clearing. Imagine a magnet, slow and warm, starting under the chin. Draw it up over the face, over the crown, and down the back of the neck, pulling the old charge up and out. [Pause] Again. Chin... face... crown... neck. Let it go as it sweeps. [Pause] Third pass. Slower. Over the eyes especially. [Pause] Last pass. All the way through, and out. [Pause] And one more gentle way this old energy is let go — everywhere it began, everywhere it was stored: Right and Wrong, Good and Bad, Point of Creation and Point of Destruction, All Nines, Shorts, Boys and Beyonds. [Music softens, waves returning] The water is clear now. Lighter. Quieter. Yours. If you're listening for someone you love, let this clear water reach them too. [Pause] When you rise, drink a glass of water, and move the body a little — a walk, a stretch, a wiggle. Keep the river moving. I see with soft eyes. I am safe here. Peace lives in me. With infinite love and gratitude — and so it is. [Waves fading]
