[Instrumental Intro] [Verse 1] I checked the list beside my bed. Half done, half living in my head. The sky was turning copper red. I went outside and watched instead. [Chorus] No trophy for the sunset, the sunset. No ribbon for the sky. It shines without a reason and lets the day go by. No trophy for the sunset, the sunset. I can rest a little without asking why. [Verse 2] A neighbor waved across the lawn. We talked until the light was gone. No perfect ending to report. Just two old chairs upon the porch. [Chorus] No trophy for the sunset, the sunset. No ribbon for the sky. It shines without a reason and lets the day go by. No trophy for the sunset, the sunset. I can rest a little without asking why. [Instrumental Interlude] [Bridge] The work will wait beside the door. The world will ask for something more. This hour belongs to fading light. I let it hold me for the night. [Final Chorus] No trophy for the sunset, the sunset. No ribbon for the sky. It shines without a reason and lets the day go by. No trophy for the sunset, the sunset. I can rest a little without asking why. [Instrumental Outro]
