Hope in God
[V1 — Psalm 42:1–4 Rap Verse] Like a deer hittin’ drought, Lord, I’m thirsty for You, Every breath that I’m breathin’ got me searchin’ for You. Tears fallin’ like a river while the day drifts by, People askin’, “Where your God?”—and I’m askin’ Him why. I remember when I marched with the praise-filled crowd, In the house where Your name rose holy and loud. Now my soul aches deep, but I’m liftin’ my gaze— In the longing, in the silence, still I bring You my praise. [Hook (C1) — Psalm 42:5 (Sung, simple)] Why, my soul, are you down so low? Hope in God—He’s my strength, I know. I will praise Him—He’s my saving light. Hope in God… hold tight. [V2 — Psalm 42:6–10 Rap Verse] From the edge of the earth, Lord, I’m callin’ Your name, From the storm-broken places where the shadows came. Deep cries out to deep as the waters roar, But Your love is the wave that still reaches the shore. In the night You send a song, in the day Your command, Yet my bones feel cracked by the hits I withstand. Enemies whisper, “Where’s your God now?” again— But I cling to Your promise in the tension I’m in. [Hook (C2) — Psalm 42:11 (Sung)] Why, my soul, are you down so low? Hope in God—He’s my strength, I know. I will praise Him, still lifting my cry. Hope in God… Most High. [V3 — Psalm 43:1–4 Rap Verse] Come defend me, O God—hear the case I plead, From deceit, from the darkness, from the ones who mislead. You’re the God of my refuge—why I feel cast far? Send Your truth, send Your light—let ‘em show where You are. Let ‘em lead me to the mountain where Your glory dwells, To the altar of joy where the praise swells well. I will come with the music, with the strings in hand— For You’re God, my delight, and before You I stand. [Hook (C3) — Psalm 43:5 (Sung)] Why, my soul, are you down so low? Hope in God—He’s my strength, I know. I will praise Him—my salvation, my guide. Hope in God… abide.
