Just Say No!

CUSTOM

You say you're not an alcoholic... You just like a drink. Okay then... If you can take it or leave it... Why can't you leave it? Vodka and Coke, You pour another glass, Tell yourself it's the last one, Then you pour another after that. You don't drink for the flavour, You drink to change the way you feel, To shut your head up, To make the real world disappear. You hide the empty bottles, You cover up the smell, You get good at making promises You know you're gonna break as well. "Just tonight." "I'll stop tomorrow." "Everyone drinks like me." But the person in the mirror Knows exactly what you need. Because one drink isn't one drink When one becomes the whole night. And the whole night isn't the problem When tomorrow starts the same. You don't control the drinking... The drinking controls you. JUST SAY NO! Before the first one hits your lips. JUST SAY NO! Before you lose another bit. You say, "One won't hurt." But one becomes the bottle, And the bottle becomes your life. JUST SAY NO! Don't tell yourself you're fine. JUST SAY NO! Before you cross that line. You can call it a binge, You can call it what you want... But if you can't stop drinking, YOU'RE AN ALCOHOLIC. JUST SAY NO! Morning comes, And there's a can beside the bed, You don't even question it, You just crack the fucking lid. Before your feet hit the floor, Before you've washed your face, That first cold mouthful Puts your head back in its place. Then another through the morning, Another through the day, And by the time the sun goes down You're already on your way. You drink when you're happy, You drink when you're low, You drink when there's nothing happening, You drink because you know. Every excuse sounds different, But the ending's always the same. Another can. Another bottle. Another night you can't explain. And you keep saying, "I could stop." Then why don't you? If you really had control, Why does every morning Start with alcohol? JUST SAY NO! Before the first one hits your lips. JUST SAY NO! Before another day gets ripped. You say, "One won't hurt." Then you're drinking till you fall, And tomorrow starts it all. JUST SAY NO! You know you can't have one. JUST SAY NO! You know what you've become. Call it a binge, Call it a habit, Call it whatever gets you through... BUT IF THE BOTTLE OWNS YOU, THEN THE BOTTLE OWNS YOU! JUST SAY NO! Nearly every fucking day, It's another reason why. "I've had a bad week." "I deserve one." "I need to take the edge off tonight." But the weeks become the months, And the months become the years, And somewhere underneath the drinking You disappear. People stop asking questions Because they already know. They've watched you change, They've watched you lie, They've watched the person that they loved Slowly disappear behind your eyes. And maybe that's the hardest part... Not admitting you're an alcoholic. It's admitting How much you've already lost. So look at the can. Look at the bottle. Look at the life You've built around it. You keep saying, "I've got this." But if you did... You wouldn't need another drink. Don't call it social drinking When you're drinking alone. Don't call it just a habit When you can't leave it at home. Don't say you're in control When the bottle controls you. Look in the mirror. You know the truth. You don't need another excuse. Say it. Alcoholic. Can you have one? No. Can you leave the rest? No. Can you wake up tomorrow And not need a drink? That's the question. [Final Chorus] JUST SAY NO! Put the bottle down. JUST SAY NO! Before you hit the ground. If you can't have one Without drinking them all, If you need that first drink Just to get through it all... JUST SAY NO! Stop lying to yourself, You already know. You're an alcoholic. So just say no. Tomorrow isn't promised. The bottle doesn't love you. It only waits for you. So when you reach for it... Just say no.
