Lost Field Notes - Something In The Green

The old paths breathe beneath the ivy Half asleep below the stone Lantern moths drift through the hollow Like ash with somewhere else to go The trees stand close in quiet circles Roots entwined beneath the floor Every step through moss and ruin Feels remembered from before And the forest never asked me To become less than I am But something in the green keeps calling Soft as rain on cedar bark Threading through the bones of silence Like a lantern in the dark Moonlight spills through broken archways Silver on the sleeping vines Somewhere deeper in the thicket Ancient bells still mark the night The rivers carry fallen petals Past the roots and under leaves Nothing disappears here It just changes quietly And the forest never asked me To become less than I am Something in the green keeps calling Past the walls I built alone Through the ruins and the briars Toward a place that feels like home Gold light through the canopy Dust and spores like fallen stars Every living thing connected By invisible darkened cords Something in the green keeps calling In the roots and in the rain In the ivy on the old stones In the beauty of decay And the night blooms all around me Soft and endless as the sea
