[Verse] In the cold St. Martin rode on by A beggar shivering caught his eye From his cloak he tore off half to share Kindness shown to shield from bitter air [Verse 2] That night a vision came so clear Jesus wore his cloak with holy cheer In his dream he heard a gentle voice "You clothed me when I had no other choice" [Chorus] We will shine our lanterns high Light the way through the night sky In St. Martin’s name we’ll show Kindness in the lantern’s glow [Verse 3] In hearts of stone he planted holy seeds With simple acts and many humble deeds Every year with cold night drawing near We remember now and hold him dear [Bridge] Lanterns glowing soft and bright Casting warmth through darkest night In his honor Let them gleam Guiding us to see his dream [Chorus] We will shine our lanterns high Light the way through the night sky In St. Martin’s name we’ll show Kindness in the lantern’s glow
