Let the Compass Fall - Ayoa & Kaelo - Bennie Mellies

[intro] [acapella] [acoustic] [guitar solo] [piano solo] [Verse 1 — female - Ayoa] Black feather in my open hand Still warm from where you stood The city folded into stone As softly as it could Then all the air began to shake Bright colors crowded in A million wings became a wall I had to walk within [Pre-Chorus — female Ayoa] A voice said, “Let him go right now Or lose the one you came to be” But love won’t make me disappear And loving you won’t cancel me [Chorus — female Ayoa] So I let the compass fall Let it fall, let it fall Through a million colored wings Through the center of it all I won’t lose myself to save you I won’t leave you in the dark I let the compass fall And it broke the storm apart [Verse 2 —female Ayoa] I saw my childhood in their wings My mother by the sea My father fading from the shore The girl I used to be Then through the center of the swarm I saw you sealed in glass The question rose: “What will you lose If you bring him back?” [Pre-Chorus — female Ayoa] I asked the air what I should do My own voice answered, “Trust” I opened both my empty hands And let the compass drop [Chorus — Ayoa, Kaelo echoes] So I let the compass fall (Let it fall, let it fall) Through a million colored wings Through the center of it all I won’t lose myself to save you I won’t leave you in the dark I let the compass fall And it broke the storm apart [Bridge — Ayoa & Kaelo] [female Ayoa] I opened up my fingers [male Kaelo] The whole sky opened too [female Ayoa] I didn’t have to lose myself [male Kaelo] To find my way to you [Both] What fell became a doorway What broke became a start You never have to leave yourself To meet another heart [Final Chorus — Both] We let the old illusion fall Let it fall, let it fall Through a million beating wings Through the center of it all We can love without surrender We can meet as who we are I let the compass fall And it broke the storm apart [Outro — Ayoa & Kaelo] [male Kaelo] What you let go didn’t leave you [female Ayoa] It came back in another form [Both] Two needles turning side by side Beyond the butterfly storm [outro piano] [outro whisper] Ben, Ben, Bennie pon di riddim Mmmmhhhh.....
