# THIS IS THE DAY *Inspired by Psalm 118* [Intro – Dirty blues-rock guitar riff, pounding kick drum, stomps and handclaps] [Electric guitar riff – Heavy bass enters] HEY! HEY! COME ON, COME ON! [Full band crashes in] OH, GIVE THANKS! THE LORD IS GOOD! HIS MERCY LASTS FOREVER! [Verse 1 – Gritty, powerful male rock vocal] Woke up this morning with a fire in my soul, Got a brand-new reason to let the whole world know. Yesterday's troubles tried to drag me down, But the Lord reached in and turned my life around! I've been knocked down, I've been pushed aside, Had a thousand reasons just to run and hide. But the God who made me wouldn't let me fall, When I cried out, He answered my call! [Pre-Chorus – Drums build, electric guitars rise] I was standing in the darkness, Till His mercy broke on through! Now my feet are on the solid rock, And I'm shouting something new! [Chorus – Explosive southern gospel-rock, full band] THIS IS THE DAY! THE LORD HAS MADE! I'M GONNA LIFT MY HANDS, AND SHOUT HIS PRAISE! I'M ALIVE! I'M SET FREE! HIS LOVE IS RUNNING LIKE A FIRE THROUGH ME! HEY! HEY! LET THE WHOLE WORLD SING! THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH, MY ROCK, MY KING! THIS IS THE DAY! THIS IS THE DAY! I'M GONNA REJOICE, AND GIVE HIM PRAISE! [Post-Chorus – Stomps, handclaps, gospel backing vocals] HEY! HEY! HEY! HIS MERCY NEVER ENDS! HEY! HEY! HEY! HE'S MY FOREVER FRIEND! [Verse 2 – Driving bass, gritty slide guitar, hard-hitting drums] They tried to shake me, tried to steal my song, But the Lord stood beside me all along. When the walls closed in and I couldn't see, He broke those chains and He rescued me! I put my trust in the One who saves, Not in the promises this old world makes. He's the cornerstone they threw away, Now He's the reason I'm standing today! [Pre-Chorus – Rising electric guitar, choir joins] I won't bow down to the darkness, I won't surrender to the night! The Lord is my salvation, And He's calling me to rise! [Chorus – Full band, powerful gospel harmonies] THIS IS THE DAY! [Instrumental Break – Heavy blues-rock guitar solo, pounding drums, Hammond organ] [Bridge – Music drops to kick drum, stomps, claps, and gritty solo vocal] The stone they rejected... Became the cornerstone! The One they counted out... Is sitting on the throne! I called Him in my trouble... HE ANSWERED ME! He pulled me from the darkness... AND SET ME FREE!
