3944 -  THE SEA OF ILLUSIONS - ( post punk )

V5

[THE SEA OF ILLUSIONS ] I type a line, I drop a prompt, and the machine spits fire like a bored god. The screen blinks ..... click ...... suddenly I’m a genius, a saint of cheap electricity, a poet powered by a socket in the wall. I didn’t choke on cigarette smoke writing verses, I didn’t bleed knuckles on broken guitars, I didn’t shake hands with madness at 4AM begging for a melody to save me. I just pressed a key. A fucking key. And the world applauds like trained seals. I’m not Hendrix, I’m not Ian Curtis, I’m not the ghost of a tortured anything. I’m a man feeding crumbs to an algorithm that burps symphonies back at me and tells me I’m special. The truth? I’m a parasite. A digital leech sucking dopamine from numbers: likes, hearts, views, streams, a pathetic scoreboard of my own delusions. And still I grin, like I built a cathedral instead of copy-pasting a miracle. Creation? It’s cosplay. Passion? It’s pre-rendered. Rebellion? It’s pre-approved by the same machine that’s killing the underground one preset at a time. We’re all punks without bruises, revolutionaries without dirt, prophets with Wi-Fi instead of visions. And look at Detroit ... the city of ghosts with oil in their veins. Engines roaring, metal screaming, Motown beating like a human heart. Now it’s just server farms humming like sterilized bees, kids shouting “I’m a god!” with borrowed voices and plastic bravado. The real gods? They’re laughing so hard they’re choking. And me? I’m worse. Because I enjoy it. I adore this cheap high, this synthetic pride, this illusion that I matter. I ride the beat like a thief on a stolen horse, knowing the whole time the animal does all the work and I take all the glory. We’re not artists. We’re not shamans. We’re reflections in a broken mirror polished by someone else’s code. We mouth the words of a machine and pretend they’re revelations. Every time I say “this is art,” another real artist somewhere throws up in their grave. But still… I won’t stop. I can’t stop. This circus of fake flames burns just warm enough to keep my ego alive. And pretending? Pretending feels better than silence. [ OUTRO ] Oh, it’s an illusion, a cheap one, a hollow one, but God— it feels good to drown in it. To sink. To vanish. To become nothing but a ripple in the sea of illusions… the sea of illusions… illusions…
