We Don't Talk About Shadow Berry

[Intro — Berry Squad, softly] We don't say the name... We don't turn around... We don't ask the question... We don't make a sound... [Verse 1 — Poppy Berry] There's a rule in this squad, and we follow it tight, Some things stay hidden when they don't feel right. You can talk about apples, you can talk about blue, You can talk about anything... except who? [EmoBerry] Don't. [Poppy Berry] Except who? [EmoBerry] You heard me. [Poppy Berry] Right. Okay. [Chorus — Berry Squad] We don't talk about Shadowberry, Don't say her name when the moon gets scary, Don't look behind you, don't ask why, Don't mention the shadow when it passes by. We don't talk about Shadowberry, That's one little rule that we all carry, Keep your voice low, keep your secrets buried, 'Cause everybody knows... [All, suddenly quiet] We don't talk about Shadowberry. [Verse 2 — AppleBerry] I heard footsteps coming from down the hall, Three little knocks, then nothing at all. I opened the door, but nobody stood there, Just a cold little breeze and a ribbon of hair. [Blueberry] That wasn't her. [AppleBerry] I never said it was. [Blueberry] Good. [BerryBerry] I once saw a shadow dancing on the wall, It had no body, but it looked ten feet tall. I thought it was Poppy playing another prank— [Poppy Berry] Hey! [BerryBerry] Then the shadow turned around... [Everyone] Don't! [Chorus — Berry Squad] We don't talk about Shadowberry, Don't say her name when the night gets heavy, Don't light that candle, don't open that door, If you hear three knocks, don't knock back anymore. We don't talk about Shadowberry, Smile real sweet and pretend you're merry, Nothing is wrong, everything's fine, Just don't let her shadow cross the line. [Bridge — EmoBerry, darker] They say she sleeps beneath the old black tree, They say she wakes when somebody speaks. They say she knows every secret you hide, And if you hear her laughing... [Poppy Berry] She's probably outside. [Silence] [Everyone] ...Poppy. [Poppy Berry] What? [Angry Berry] WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?! [Verse 3 — Angry Berry] I don't care about some stupid ghost, I don't care about shadows or things that boast, I don't care if she lives in the walls— [A faint knock] ...Okay, who's knocking? [MuscleBerry] Nobody. [Angry Berry] Then why'd I hear it?! [MuscleBerry] I don't know. [Angry Berry] WHO KNOWS?! [All] We don't talk about Shadowberry! [Final Chorus — Full Berry Squad] We don't talk about Shadowberry, Keep that secret safe and buried, Don't say her name, don't call her near, Don't give the darkness something it can hear. We don't talk about Shadowberry, Don't get curious, don't get wary— Just close the door and kill the light, And maybe she'll forget tonight... [Poppy Berry — quietly] But if we're never supposed to talk about her... [EmoBerry] Poppy, don't. [Poppy Berry] ...why does everybody know her name? [Everyone — whispering] We don't talk about Shadowberry... [Final whisper — distant, mysterious voice] ...Shadowberry. [Outro — Berry Squad, panicked whispers] Who said that? I didn't. Wasn't me. Check the door. Don't open it. Why is the shadow moving? [Three knocks] [Silence]
