[introduction] He looked out across the hull of the old ship. It was an elegant thing, the Cruiser Loki, although he didn't much like the name. It was a shame that it wouldn't survive this stop, but the Fleet had suffered far too much embarrassment over this ship. [verse 1] From the day the crew mutinied, over fifteen years ago. As the pirate ship Loki, she was responsible for over fifty lost space vessels. It's crew had recorded with ghoulish detail, raids made on space habitats, newly formed colonies, observation satellites, and any other thing they encountered. [verse 2] There were countless notes in the logs about the spacing of prisoners, once they had given any information useful towards another score, The pirate ship had definitely racked up quite the gore. [Chorus] In the stars she carved through chance, from shadows she pounced in past. A whispered name with fear would prance, Pirate ship Loki destroyed every last. Into the void, she'd greedily glance, Where dreams ignite the fires are cast. [verse 3] To Him, it didn't even look like a pirate ship, or fleet vessel for that matter. There were places where the Cruiser still peeked out, but the ship had been re‑fit, perhaps even totally rebuilt. The ship wasn't any slimmer than a Fleet Battle Cruiser, just a lot smoother. [verse 4] The lines of the ship melted together, as if it had been grown more than built. There was a more natural look, to the thing than anything the Fleet ever had. And the fleet was going to scrap it. That was where HE came in. [Chorus] In the stars she carved through chance, from shadows she pounced in past. A whispered name with fear would prance, Pirate ship Loki destroyed every last. Into the void, she'd greedily glance, Where dreams ignite the fires are cast. [verse 6] His job was to gut the hull in preparation for demolition. He hated his job. He was an engineer, for God's sake, not a butcher. but they didn't want to hear it. They didn't want to hear about more efficient drives and better and cleaner ships. They just wanted to plow through space in search of battles. [verse 7] They wanted cheaper firepower, and when he bucked the system, it bucked back, now in charge of the abomination of the universe. The Fleet Scrapyard. Standing in the forward hull of the Pirate ship Loki, staring at a work of art more than a space vessel, He realized that he no longer belonged to the fleet. He belonged to this ship. They were both leaving, but first the name. ("Welcome aboard the Seven Wishes,") he said under his breath. [outro] In the stars we'll find our chance, Among shadows of the past. A whispered name with fierce romance, Seven Wishes now steadfast. Through the void, we’ll boldly glance, Where dreams ignite and futures cast.
