Track 15: Breakfast Is Tomorrow's Problem

Intro (Microwave beeps. Kettle starts boiling.) "Anyone hungry?" Silence. --- Verse 1 Somebody found bread. Nobody found a knife. The apartment looked Like a small festival That had given up. Three people were asleep On one sofa. Nobody seemed To own the sofa. I decided Not to investigate. --- Pre-Chorus The curtains opened. Everybody hissed. --- Chorus Breakfast is tomorrow's problem. Coffee can negotiate. The sun keeps acting Like it wasn't Part of last night's mistakes. Breakfast is tomorrow's problem. Right now we're doing fine. Pass the orange juice, The cigarettes, And another ridiculous story. --- Verse 2 Lucy was wearing Someone else's hoodie. Dave had acquired A goldfish. He insisted They'd become friends In the taxi. Nobody argued. The goldfish looked Remarkably relaxed. Someone offered mushrooms. Someone else offered tequila. The mushrooms Seemed more responsible. --- Instrumental Break (Warm synth bass rolls beneath shimmering guitars. Handclaps disappear, leaving only a lazy electronic beat before the band crashes back in.) --- Verse 3 The television was on. Nobody was watching. A shopping channel Was selling diamond necklaces At eight in the morning. Dave asked If they accepted Store credit. The presenter Didn't answer. Probably for legal reasons. --- Bridge You said, "We should go to sleep." Somebody replied, "Or the beach." Somehow... The beach won. --- Final Chorus Breakfast is tomorrow's problem. Today's still technically last night. Nobody's checked the clock Since somebody unplugged it To charge a phone. Breakfast is tomorrow's problem. We'll figure it out eventually. The party's over. The after-party's over. Now we're just Accidentally spending Sunday together. --- Outro (The kettle clicks off. Birds begin singing outside.) "Who's making coffee?" ... Nobody moves.
