[Sheryl: soft female vocal] I had been singing in the room again, Dancing through the ache I could not name. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] Asking mercy for the roads I chose, For the doors I opened in my pain. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] I was wounded, I was tired, I felt abandoned in the night. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] So I wandered toward familiar dark, Looking for a counterfeit light. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] Still, a frightened girl inside me Needed proof I could not hold. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] Not flesh and bone, not earthly sight, But near enough to shake my soul. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] I know You do not have to come, I know Your Word should be enough. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] But Lord, if You were standing here, Would I still doubt Your love? [Sheryl: soft female vocal] Mercy heard what shame had hidden, Heaven heard my trembling cry. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] Crying, Lord, forgive the roads I ran, I just need to know You’re nigh. [Jesus: deep male vocal] Look at Me. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] And the room went still as flame. I lifted up my frightened head, [Sheryl: soft female vocal] And Jesus spoke my name. Eyes like fire, holy fire, [Sheryl: soft female vocal] Burning through my every lie. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] I stepped back, trembling in shame, But mercy called me nigh. [Jesus] Come here. Look at Me. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] Child, I could not hide. Child, I could not hide. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] I bowed my head, I shook with fear, Unworthy underneath Your light. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] I had chased a shadowed name, I let the darkness blur my sight. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] I tested what stood before my soul, In Jesus’ name, I asked the truth. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] And fire did not consume me there, Mercy answered in the room. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] No serpent’s hiss, no flattering crown, No sweet excuse for what I’d done. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] Only truth with burning eyes, Only mercy from the Son. [Jesus] Look at Me. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] I am afraid, I have betrayed, I cannot tell the voices apart. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] Was it You, was it me, was it hell in disguise, Whispering into my heart? [Jesus] You are forgiven. You wanted to see Me. [Jesus] Here I am. Stop doubting My voice. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] In the mercy that He gave me, I came back to pierced hands. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] Not destroyed by holy fire, But forgiven where I stand. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] So I looked at Him, Though His eyes were burning flame. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] The terror bowed to holy love, And mercy called my name. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] Eyes like fire, holy fire, Not to destroy, but purify. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] I was shaking, I was forgiven, And I could not hide. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] He came as Himself, not a dream of my making, Not soft like the idols I knew. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] Fire in His eyes, forgiveness in His voice, And every phantom light withdrew. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] I Look at Him. I Come near. [Sheryl: soft female vocal] I am forgiven. I know His voice.
