RADAWAY - Queen of the Sky
RADAWAY - Queen of the Sky The ambush was quick and unexpected. The two men switched their power armor into combat mode. Their servomotors roared to life, targeting systems activated and the energy consumption increased dramatically. What followed was a desperate firefight against an enemy whose numbers seemed to grow with every passing minute. Cooper and John fought back, refusing to surrender their position, but ammunition and energy reserves were running dangerously low. Then, through the rain and smoke, a gigantic airship appeared above the mountain range. At first, its silhouette might have suggested the arrival of Brotherhood of Steel reinforcements. But this was no ordinary Brotherhood patrol. The airship belonged to a very different kind of force. Its captain was Visiam, a former member of the Brotherhood who had abandoned the order and carved out a kingdom of her own. Her followers were a motley collection of ghouls, raiders, scavengers and wasteland outcasts, united not by any noble cause but by the promise of protection, plunder and a place aboard her flying fortress. The people who had ambushed Cooper and John were hers. The abandoned equipment and vehicles left beneath the mountain by earlier expeditions, including those associated with the Caravan of Fools, had attracted scavengers from across the surrounding wasteland. What had once been little more than a collection of abandoned supplies had gradually become a treasure trove. Visiam's people had discovered it, claimed it and turned the surrounding territory into their hunting ground. Cooper and John had unknowingly entered their domain. Outnumbered and exhausted, the two men were eventually overwhelmed. Their weapons were confiscated, their power armor disabled, and they were taken prisoner. The raiders dragged them away from the battlefield and brought them aboard the enormous airship. As the vessel rose above the mountains, the road to Pikes Peak disappeared beneath the clouds. Cooper had survived the Great War, ghoulification, the destruction of his old world and more than two centuries of the wasteland. Yet somehow, he had ended up a prisoner aboard a pirate airship, with John beside him and no weapons in sight. Their journey to Vault Infinity had taken an unexpected turn. And somewhere above the clouds, Captain Visiam was about to decide what to do with her two very unusual guests. ************************************************************************* [Intro – Cooper, spoken] Well, ain't this a fine situation... No bullets, no weapons, no power armor. And apparently, I've been kidnapped by a lady. Well, at least she's got good taste in hats. [Verse 1 – Cooper] There's a queen up on this flying ship, With an eye patch and a dangerous lip. She's got raiders dancing on the deck, And a price on every fool's neck. She took my guns, she took my gear, Said, "Welcome aboard, stranger, have no fear." Well, darlin', fear ain't what I feel... I'm just wondering if this ship serves a meal. She's got a crew of outlaws, ghouls and thieves, A pirate flag that dances in the breeze. But when she turned and looked my way, I forgot every smart thing I had to say. [Pre-Chorus – Cooper] Ay, caramba, what a sight! One eye covered, the other burning bright. I've seen some things in this wasteland, true... But never a name as pretty as you! [Chorus – Cooper, Visiam joining] Visiam! Oh, Visiam! Queen of the sky, with a heart of iron! Visiam! Oh, Visiam! You stole my freedom, but I'm not complainin'! She's got an eyepatch, she's got a crown, She runs this rusted kingdom upside down. Ay, mi reina, what can I say? I'd almost let you kidnap me twice in a day! [Verse 2 – Cooper] Her airship's got a cannon on the side, A dozen angry ghouls along for the ride. The cook looks mean, the first mate's worse, And I believe the bathroom's under some kind of curse. I asked the captain, "Where's my dog?" She said, "He's probably chewing through the fog." I asked for coffee, she gave me rum, Now I can't remember where my boots came from. John just sits there, giving me that stare, Like I'm the reason we ended up here. Well, excuse me, pal, I didn't choose the flight... I just said the captain looked alright! [Cooper – spoken] Well... she's charming. [Bridge – Cooper] Hold on a minute, now I know that face... A little girl from another time and place. She was thirsty, standing in the sun, I gave her a drink when the day was done. She looked so small, with dust in her hair, Didn't know she'd grow up to rule the air. Well, I'll be damned, now isn't that grand... I gave the pirate queen a drink from my can! [Final Chorus – Cooper and Visiam] Visiam! Oh, Visiam! Queen of the sky, with a heart of iron! Visiam! Oh, Visiam! From a little girl to a pirate tyrant! She's got an eyepatch, she's got a crown, And the prettiest name in the wasteland town. Ay, mi reina, now I understand... I should've charged you for that drink, ma'am! [Outro – Cooper, spoken] You know, Visiam... I believe I still have that canteen. [Visiam – spoken] Keep dreaming, cowboy. [Cooper] Well... worth a shot.
