Playlist of past mixes: https://suno.com/playlist/f41cb4cc-5b2b-4a91-b774-6804afb8755c I've set up a series of parameters with ChatGPT to continue my Weekly Fusion experiment with them. At the end of each week, I will prompt ChatGPT to generate lyrics based on the titles of songs that I've published within that given week. I will simply cram the titles together like a bad sentence and let GPT take the reins from there with the understanding that content and context is at their full discretion. As I tend to occasionally write about personally-crafted characters and worlds, they will be allowed to ask clarifying questions about unfamiliar words if they feel that it is warranted, but I have encouraged them to feel free to create their own assumptions as well. This is and always has been a project born of curiosity and experimentation. I often use these weekly fusions as an opportunity to test out new sounds and combinations, and having ready-made lyrics allows me to focus on the sound of a track rather than its entire shape. I've honestly discovered more than a few personas (voices) this way that have joined my little troupe. Feel free to try this with your own library! :) This week's prompt: the pursuit a fiery pause charred lament Secondary name: "Where the Fire Was" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [Verse 1] You always leave the birds behind They circle where you've been I follow through the blackened pines And listen for the wind There's warmth beneath the fallen bark There's smoke without a flame I put my hand against the earth And almost know your name [Refrain] Waitβ Not yet Let the ashes settle [Verse 2] You crossed the valley yesterday I reached it after rain The river carried little moons Through ribbons of your stain A fence stood naked on the hill Its shadow burned away I found one flower folded shut And watched it face the day [Refrain] Waitβ Not yet Let the silence breathe [Chorus] I have followed every fire I have learned the roads they take Every hunger leaves a hollow Every leaving leaves a wake But you never let me find you Only where you used to be So I walk among your endings And pretend they're leading me [Verse 3] The years have made me good at this At reading what remains Which stones were split by sudden heat Which clouds are promising rain I know the smell of cedar smoke I know when roots survive I know a forest can look dead While half of itβs alive But I don't know what I would do If one day, through the haze I looked ahead instead of down And saw your face [Fiery Pause] So stop. Just once. Burn here. Let me arrive while something still has edges. Let me see the thing before it becomes a story I tell myself from what survived. I am tired of knowing you by absence. I am tired of being good at grief. [Final Chorus] I have followed every fire Till the road became my own Made a map from all your ashes Built a compass out of smoke If I never get to find you If there's nothing left to see Then perhaps I wasn't chasing you Perhapsβ you were burning a path for me [Outro] Morning moves across the hillside Green beneath the gray For the first time I let the smoke Drift the other way.
