[Verse 1] Plastic float On my back in July You were there Every summer I was five Blue tile Kept my secrets all inside You heard Every laugh Every cry [Chorus] You’re the people behind my pool You’ve been there for all my life Holding up my cannonballs Catching every sleepless night Under every birthday sun Through the storms and firelight You’re the people behind my pool You’ve been there for all my life [Verse 2] Dad’s grin Grill smoke in the breeze Bare feet Running circles round my knees First kiss Chlorine on our skin You stayed When the world rushed in [Chorus] You’re the people behind my pool You’ve been there for all my life Holding up my cannonballs Catching every sleepless night Under every birthday sun Through the storms and firelight You’re the people behind my pool You’ve been there for all my life
