--- Time to get funky and see how much "slap bass" I can work into the song. :-) After the success of the previous song making use of the "Live Audience", I thought it would be fun to continue that for another song. This one's about prepping for the Prom by working on all your awesome dance moves but you need a special song that fits. When the DJ finally plays your perfect song, it's time for you to shine and own that dance floor. Years later, other people probably won't remember who they went with for Prom, but they are going to remember that dance! . . . lol. The "live" aspects of the song worked out better than I expected. Plus, even though I used the persona that I have for this "band", I managed to extract a different male vocals than the usual. I picture this as being the bass guitarist's spotlight moment where he gets to show off his dance moves and his slap bass grooves. Another one of those songs that worked out better than I expected :-) ~David --- [Musical Introduction] [Clean guitar scratch → bass pop… slap… pop-pop → crowd murmur → hi-hat groove slides in] [Verse 1 - Male Vocals - Spider – smooth, confident] Polished shoes but I came alone Mirror moves I’ve been practicing at home Countin’ beats while the slow songs drag Waiting for a groove I can actually grab DJ spinning but it ain’t quite right Couples swayin’ in the neon light I’m in the corner with a quiet stance— This ain’t it… I need that dance [Pre-Chorus] Then it drops—oh, there it is That bassline talking like it knows my business Heartbeat syncs, no second chance— This is it… last prom dance [Chorus] [full groove hits] Last chance, last prom dance! Step in the light, watch me advance No partner needed, just circumstance— When the beat hits right, I become the dance Last chance, last prom dance! Clear that floor, give me the chance You’ll forget the night, forget romance— But you’ll remember this last prom dance [Verse 2 - Male Vocals - Spider + Ned hype ad-libs] [Male Vocals - Spider] Slide to the left—nah, I glide through space Pop-lock pulse with a half-time grace Heel-toe twist, then I snap it back Every move hittin’ right on track [Male Vocals - Spoken - Ned (hype)] Did you see that—rewind that flow! He’s bendin’ time in a 4/4 show! [Male Vocals - Spider] Shoulders roll like a vinyl spin Bassline talkin’ through my skin I don’t dance—I translate sound Every note turns kinetic now [Pre-Chorus] Crowd pulls back, circle forms Eyes locked in like a coming storm No more waiting, no more stance— This is legend… last prom dance [Chorus] [bigger, funkier] Last chance, last prom dance! Every step in a tight romance With the rhythm, with the chance— I don’t follow, I enhance Last chance, last prom dance! Feel that slap in the circumstance You can’t fake this kind of trance— You just witness last prom dance [Musical Interlude] [INSANE slap bass solo—double thumbing, popping harmonics, percussive ghost notes. Anaconda locks a tight pocket groove, adding crisp snare and subtle cowbell hits. Crowd claps in rhythm.] [Music Solo] [Bridge] [Female Vocals - Sequel – dreamy slow-down] [music softens, groove becomes floaty] For a second, everything slows… Like the whole room holds its breath and knows This is more than just a night— It’s a moment catching light [Breakdown → Build] [just bass + foot stomps] [Male Vocals - Spider (spoken, low)] One more time… [Final Chorus] [explosive, celebratory] Last chance, last prom dance! Burn it in like a circumstance Years from now they’ll still glance back— “Were you there when he snapped like that?” Last chance, last prom dance! No names needed, no second glance They won’t recall who wore what brand— Just the night… and the way I ran [Outro] [music strips down to bass groove] Step… pop… slide… freeze [crowd erupts]
