Black water swallows up the knee, The roots decay around the tree. The poisoned vapor fills the lung, The bronze cuts through the hissing tongue. The severed head sinks in the weed, Hot blood steams black across the reed. Two open necks begin to breed, Two living mouths begin to feed. [Pre-Chorus, Chop the bone... Two will grow... Drink the venom... Sink below... The bronze cuts through the hissing tongue! [Chorus, Nine heads of night! The serpent rises from the deep! Nine heads of night! The swamp refuses now to sleep! The swinging blade hits on the bone! The poison boils beneath the stone! Two open necks begin to breed! The hunter sinks into the weed! [Verse 2, The poison burns behind the eyes, Small voices rise from reeds and flies. Small hands reflect upon the flood, The hunter swings blindly at the mud. The bronze begins to slow and bend, The swinging blade has found no end. A younger hand brings fire near, The burning torch defeats the fear. [Pre-Chorus, Chop the bone... Two will grow... Drink the venom... Sink below... The burning torch defeats the fear! [Chorus, Nine heads of night! The serpent rises from the deep! Nine heads of night! The swamp refuses now to sleep! The swinging blade hits on the bone! The poison boils beneath the stone! Two open necks begin to breed! The hunter sinks into the weed! [Bridge, Drop the blade! Bring the fire! Seal the neck above the mire! Torch the wound! Sear the vein! Fire hisses in the rain! Burn the neck... Sear the vein... [Final Chorus, Nine heads of night! The serpent rises from the deep! Nine heads of night! The swamp refuses now to sleep! The swinging blade hits on the bone! The poison boils beneath the stone! Two open necks begin to breed! The immortal head is sealed in stone! [Outro, A black rock sinks into the floor... He dips the arrows in the gore. Second labor falls. [End]
