[Intro – Spoken]
Psalm one one nine, the longest Psalm.
But every line is a lifeline. [Chorus]
Your word is a lamp when the alleys get cold,
Fire in my chest, it’s written on my bones.
I run in the path where Your truth unfolds,
Chains fall off when Your strong hands hold. [Verse 1]
Pages open like a window at night,
Streetlights buzz but Your precepts shine bright.
Enemies surround, but I hide in Your code,
Every line’s a sword, sharper than my foes.
Dust in my lungs, I was buried in shame,
You spoke through the verse, raised me up by Your name.
I feast on commands, bread deep in my soul,
While the world chases paper, I’m clutching what You wrote.
I’m weak in the flesh, but Your word makes me stand,
A torch in the desert, a map for the land.
Temptation creeps silent, but it won’t take hold,
Your covenant’s fortress, my shelter, my stronghold. Spirit lights the page, turns the ink into flame,
Seals every promise with the power of His name. [Chorus]
Your word is a lamp when the alleys get cold,
Fire in my chest, it’s written on my bones.
I run in the path where Your truth unfolds,
Chains fall off when Your strong hands hold. [Verse 2]
How can the young man keep his heart pure?
Walk in Your statutes, let the Scriptures cure.
I locked up Your word in the vault of my chest,
When sin comes knocking, it can’t find address.
Princes may scheme and critics may say,
But I meditate deep, let the Word replay.
Like rivers cut stone, it engraves my mind,
Rewires my habits, redeems my time.
I was broken, afflicted, but the pain was gain,
Pressed to Your law in the heat of the flame.
Trial is my tutor, Your precepts my guide,
Even shadows can’t hide where Your promises shine. The Breath gives me sight, makes the letter alive,
What once was just ink now ignites and revives. [Chorus]
Your word is a lamp when the alleys get cold,
Fire in my chest, it’s written on my bones.
I run in the path where Your truth unfolds,
Chains fall off when Your strong hands hold. [Verse 3]
Your statutes are sweeter than honeycomb drips,
Truth on my tongue when the lies try to slip.
The wicked set traps, they wait in their snare,
But I walk in Your law with a warrior’s prayer.
Your word is eternal, it never decays,
It stood before time, it will stand on that Day.
I rise before dawn with a song on repeat,
Psalm one one nine in the pulse of the beat.
Your law’s not a cage, it’s wings on my back,
Your promise a compass when I lose my map.
Christ is the Key, the Word made flesh,
Every promise finds “Yes” in His breath. Word and Spirit together, they move as one,
The Law points the way, but the Gospel’s the Sun. [Chorus]
Your word is a lamp when the alleys get cold,
Fire in my chest, it’s written on my bones.
I run in the path where Your truth unfolds,
Chains fall off when Your strong hands hold. [Outro–Spoken]
Keep me steady in the night till my race is done,
Word in my soul, Spirit on my tongue.
Psalm one one nine, the longest Psalm.
But every line is a lifeline.
