The Window of Opportunity On April fourth, two thousand twenty-five, Fowler signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens. He was first assigned, on an amateur tryout basis, to the Laval Rocket, the Canadiens’ AHL affiliate, for the remainder of the two thousand twenty-four – two thousand twenty-five season. On April twelfth, Fowler made his professional debut, making twenty-five saves in a two-to-one victory over the Syracuse Crunch. Laval finished the regular season tied with Syracuse for the fewest goals allowed, but Fowler had not played enough games to be eligible to share the Harry “Hap” Holmes Memorial Award. Following an injury to the Canadiens’ starting goaltender, Sam Montembeault, during the first round of the two thousand twenty-five Stanley Cup Playoffs, Cayden Primeau was recalled by Montreal to take over as backup goaltender. This allowed Fowler to become Laval’s starting goaltender for the first-round Calder Cup Playoff series against the Cleveland Monsters. He made his AHL playoff debut on April thirtieth, leading the Rocket to a three-to-two win. Fowler recorded his first professional shutout in a four-to-zero victory in the second game. He ultimately appeared in six playoff games, posting three wins and three losses during the Rocket’s run to the Eastern Conference Final. Fowler began the two thousand twenty-five – two thousand twenty-six season with the Rocket, posting a ten–five–zero record and a save percentage of point nine one nine over his first fifteen games. Meanwhile, the Canadiens’ goaltenders, Montembeault and Jakub Dobeš, struggled during the first two months of the NHL season. After the Canadiens’ six-to-one loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on December ninth, a game in which both Montembeault and Dobeš allowed three goals each, it was announced that Fowler had been recalled along with his Rocket teammates Owen Beck and Adam Engström.
