[Verse 1] He was just a rookie Diver and he surely shook with fright, He wasn’t at the Creek, and so the vets said he was shite, He heard the Super Earth PA blare “DIVE HARDER THAN BEFORE!”— We gotta thaw once more. [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive— He ain’t gonna drop no more. [Verse 2] “Mandatory drop confirmed!” the loudspeaker proclaimed, Our Diver whispered “Liberty…” but wasn’t quite inflamed, The Hellpod hatch slammed shut and launched before he reached the door— We gotta thaw once more. [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive— He ain’t gonna drop no more. [Verse 3] He counted long, he counted loud, he waited for the shock, He felt the heat, he felt the drop, his pod smashed into rock, A Charger roared beneath him as he tumbled through the gore— We gotta thaw once more. [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive— He ain’t gonna drop no more. [Verse 4] The doors blew off, the smoke rolled out, the bots began their sweep, A Trooper pinged his armor and a Hulk came in too deep, A Dropship full of metal storms descended with a roar— We gotta thaw once more. [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive— He ain’t gonna drop no more. [Verse 5] A Disciple blinked before him and it filled his HUD with light, A Councilor appeared and gave him quite a nasty fright, A Seeker’s orb exploded and it flung him to the floor— We gotta thaw once more. [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive— He ain’t gonna drop no more. [Verse 6] He tried to call for backup, but his squadmate threw a nade, Another dropped an Eagle strike right where the Diver laid, A five hundred kilo’s shadow stretched across him like a door— We gotta thaw once more. [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive— He ain’t gonna drop no more. [Verse 7] He staggered to extraction while the bots and bugs aligned, But someone armed a Hellbomb and they “oops’d” and left him behind, The shuttle tried to land but crushed his body with its corps— We gotta thaw once more. [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive— He ain’t gonna drop no more. [Verse 8] There was blood upon the dropship, there were brains upon the dune, His intestines made a mural like the crest on Super Moon, He was a mess—they shoveled him and poured him from his suit— We gotta thaw once more. [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to dive— He ain’t gonna drop no more.
