Night of the Living Dead

The moon rose high with a wicked grin overhead The graveyard swung its gates and the sleepers left their bed A lonely couple kissed while the undertaker shook his head It happened on the night of the living dead The zombies shambled slowly with a hunger to be fed One winked at a bartender and asked for brains instead She said "Buy me dinner first" and the corpse turned cherry red It happened on the night of the living dead - - The vampire lost his dentures and his confidence had fled A ghoul said "Nice fangs sweetheart" and he blushed from toe to head They vanished in the shadows where the rumors quickly spread It happened on the night of the living dead A werewolf chased a pinup through a foggy flower bed She called him quite the animal and scratched behind his head He nearly wagged his tail before remembering what she said It happened on the night of the living dead - - The skeletons were rattling as the jukebox loudly played One claimed he had more backbone than the mayor ever displayed The crowd all cheered and toasted while the cemetery swayed It happened on the night of the living dead A zombie bride kept flirting, though her groom had lost a leg She told him he still swept her off her feet and made him beg They danced until the sunrise with a stagger and a drag It happened on the night of the living dead The devil dealt some poker and the stakes were steep with dread A mummy wrapped around a thief and stole his heart instead The punchline hit so hard it woke the neighbors full of dread It happened on the night of the living dead - - When morning finally crept across the sky of gold and red The monsters packed their troubles up and tucked them all to bed But somewhere in the darkness came a laugh that softly said It happened on the night of the living dead!!!
