Welcome to Noordhland

[Verse 1] Welcome, my friends, to this frozen land, Where winter bites harder than any man’s hand. If you sit on a bench, beware of the cold, It’ll steal your balls before you grow old. [Bridge 1 – Wry/Upbeat] Oh, only in Noordhland we laugh at the pain, We call it “tradition” and drink it again. So warm up with spirits, don’t mind the frost, For here we just smile at the things we’ve lost. [Verse 2] The miners dig deep for corir so bright, It poisons their lungs but it’s profit for knights. The nobles build factories belching out smoke, While the poor cough up blood as a jolly old joke. [Bridge 2 – Darker Irony] Oh, only in Noordhland the nobles wear masks, While the peasants die young in the filth of their tasks. They tell us the sickness is part of the plan, “God loves the humble far more than the man.” [Verse 3] The fairies are wicked, they trick and they bite, They’ll bless you with boils and a rash overnight. The cows sprout their fangs in the moon’s cold glow, And the priests call it superstition but what do they know? [Bridge 3 – Grotesque] Oh, only in Noordhland the cows drink your blood, While angels and demons both dance in the mud. The priests take your coin for a cure they can’t give, And laugh as they wonder how long you will live. [Verse 4 – On the gods] We lean on the gods for our shelter and shield, But their bargains are rotten, their mercy concealed. For every prayer granted, a piece of you dies, They feast on your soul while they smile from the skies. [Bridge 4 – Bleak/Horrific] Oh, only in Noordhland your soul is the fee, For safety that kills you more slowly, you see. And when your last breath is stolen away, The gods drink your bones just to sweeten their day. [Outro Verse] So raise up your glass, my unlucky guest, To the land where despair is daily dressed. If you live till tomorrow, you’ll learn it’s all true, For Noordhland eats everyone, even you. [Final Bridge/Outro – Utterly Grim] Oh, only in Noordhland the song never ends, Each chorus is written in screams of your friends. So laugh while you can, though the end may be near, For the land takes your hope and then swallows your fear.
