[Verse 1] Step on through the iron gate Hear the hinges say your name Dust on the velvet drapes And a grin inside the frame The portraits all look back Like they know what you came for Footsteps on the checkerboard Then they vanish by the door [Pre-Chorus] Look alive Hold your breath Every hallway feels like chess Keep your smile Lose your nerve The dead are doing their best [Chorus] Welcome, foolish mortals to the haunted mansion Step right in, step right in Welcome, foolish mortals Now the shadows spin Be afraid, be afraid When the wall begins to sing Be very, very afraid Of the grinning in the things [Verse 2] There’s a tombstone with a mouth And it never shuts up once Keeps on singing in the ground Like a funeral with a pulse Cobwebs in the chandelier Cold air on the back of your neck Every little tapping sound Feels like someone’s coming next [Pre-Chorus] Look alive Hold your breath Every hallway feels like chess Keep your smile Lose your nerve The dead are doing their best [Chorus] Welcome, foolish mortals to the haunted mansion Step right in, step right in Welcome, foolish mortals Now the shadows spin Be afraid, be afraid When the wall begins to sing Be very, very afraid Of the grinning in the things [Bridge] If the floorboard calls your name Don’t answer, don’t you blink If the candles bow in flame That means they’re close, I think One more turn, one more laugh And the silence breaks in two If you came for a little scare Then the house came back for you [Final Chorus] Welcome, foolish mortals to the haunted mansion Step right in, step right in Welcome, foolish mortals Hear the cold winds grin Be afraid, be afraid When the tombstones start to ring Be very, very afraid Of the grinning in the things
