The breeze carried your scent across the sea Like the wind had one mission and that mission was me From the land of the rising sun it came without a sound Touched the garden of the gods before it reached this ground The earth held your essence in its soil and its rain Sent it through the rivers running through my veins mosquito she traded DNA and laid her egg on my sill Like nature wrote a love letter and the postman was a drill The tide memorized your touch before it kissed my soul Like the ocean kept your secret then delivered to my shore Cedar smoke rose east and found my lungs at dawn Like the fire knew my address and predicted my morning yawn The spider spun her web with the patience that you gave Every thread a memory of you i deeply crave The hummingbird stayed longer than she ever had to stay Like she knew the hug I craved, your warmth before she flew away The soil cracked open and what bloomed was green and deep Like the earth had been holding you in trust while you were sleep Every root, every season, every current, every spore Just the universe bringing you back to my heart’s door The seeds you planted all took root in my soul.
