[Verse 1] You had chlorine in your hair, A paper bracelet on your wrist, Said your dad had booked the cheap rooms 'Cause the sea view didn't exist. We stole peaches from the breakfast, Left our flip-flops by the pool, You were sixteen going nowhere, I was sixteen playing cool. [Pre-Chorus] Every night the same old DJ, Every night that stupid song, We'd complain about the music, Then we'd sing it all night long. [Chorus] Come on, come on, Meet me by the hotel sign. We had one week to live forever, You were yours and I was mine. Come on, come on, Underneath that Spanish sun, I don't know where you are now— But I'm sixteen when it comes on. [Verse 2] You wrote your number on a napkin With a biro running dry, Then the waiter cleared the table And we laughed until we cried. Sunscreen on the postcards, Sand inside my camera case, And a tiny plastic dolphin I still somehow couldn't waste. [Pre-Chorus] Your mum shouted from the balcony, Mine was counting down the days, We were making stupid promises That only holidays can make. [Chorus] Come on, come on, Meet me by the hotel sign. We had one week to live forever, You were yours and I was mine. Come on, come on, Underneath that Spanish sun, I don't know where you are now— But I'm sixteen when it comes on. [Instrumental Break] [Bridge] Last morning, 6:15, Suitcases across the tiles, Your coach left twenty minutes first, I watched it for a mile. No grand goodbye, no movie scene, Just your hand against the glass. Funny how a week can disappear And still refuse to pass. [Breakdown] I kept that stupid bracelet 'Til the writing disappeared. Funny how a week can vanish And still follow you for years. [Final Chorus] Come on, come on, Meet me by the hotel sign. We had one week to live forever, You were yours and I was mine. Come on, come on, Underneath that Spanish sun, Maybe you forgot me— But I'm sixteen when it comes on. [Outro] Chlorine in your hair, Paper bracelet on your wrist, Funny all the little things You never know you're gonna miss.
