I spent years drawing lines in the mirror with chalk Trying to trim down the fat and improve how I talk! Every flaw was a thunderclap inside of my head Every silence tasted like a loaf of rye bread! (Wait, what?) I wore borrowed voices like a suit of chainmail But pretending is heavy and it's making me pale! (Whoop! Whoop!) I chased all my neighbors to see if I fit But they told me to scram and to "please just commit!" I measured my worth by the likes on the screen While I felt like a ghost in a washing machine! But I found the truth when I sat on the floor And I realized I don't have to hide anymore! (Oompah-pah! Oompah-pah!) So I’m learning to stay when I’m itching to run! I’ll stare at my face till the staring is done! I don’t need a fix and I don't need a mask I’m a glorious mess, if you happen to ask! I’m enough in this moment, yeah, I’m the whole ham! I’m just who I am! Just as I am! (Loud honk-honk!) Now the past is behind me, it's breathing down my neck But it’s understood now, I’m no longer a wreck! Every scar is a merit badge earned in the fray Of surviving the madness of every single day! I won’t shrink myself down like a cheap cotton shirt And I won't apologize for my name in the dirt! (Hey! Hey! Hey!) Oh, I’m learning to stay when I’m itching to run! I’ll hold my own ground till the battle is won! I don’t need a plan and I don't need to be perfect (If you saw my garage, you would know I'm not perfect!) I’m enough in this moment, yeah, I’m the whole ham! I’m just who I am! Just as I am! If I fall, I’ll fall forward—watch out for the floor! If I break, I’ll just glue myself back like before! No more asking permission to breathe or to be I’m the captain and crew of the S.S. Me! (A-ha-ha! *Accordion sneeze*) I’m fully breathing! (Hooo-eee!) Just as I am! (Yodel-lay-hee!) As I am! (Squeeze it!) As I am! (Bring it home, Lou!) As I am! (One more time!) Just as I aaaam-pah-pah!
