[Verse 1] I found a kite in a field of beans Orange tail snapping through the trees No name on it, just tape and string Still it pulled me like a living thing [Pre-Chorus] So I ran, then I laughed Past the fence and the broken path It spun once, then it came alive Like it had been waiting all this time [Chorus] Orange kite, take flight Spin me up all night Orange kite, take flight I wanna feel that pull (pull) Orange kite, take flight Cut the gray in light Orange kite, take flight I follow where you go (go) [Verse 2] A little boy waved from a porch swing seat Said, “That one goes where the wind can breathe” I held that string like a lucky spark And the sky got loud in my chest, in my heart [Pre-Chorus] So I ran, then I laughed Past the fence and the broken path It spun once, then it came alive Like it had been waiting all this time [Chorus] Orange kite, take flight Spin me up all night Orange kite, take flight I wanna feel that pull (pull) Orange kite, take flight Cut the gray in light Orange kite, take flight I follow where you go (go) [Bridge] If I let go, maybe I’m still free Maybe the sky remembers me One small thread, one wild sign And the whole blue world feels mine [Final Chorus] Orange kite, take flight Spin me up all night Orange kite, take flight I wanna feel that pull (pull) Orange kite, take flight Cut the gray in light Orange kite, take flight I follow where you go (go)
