[Intro – half-spoken, lazy] Well… I woke up sideways again. [Yeah… that’s probably fine.] [Verse 1] Got a pocket full of quarters and a head full of rain, One shoe on the sidewalk, one foot on a train, Coffee tastes like thunder, breakfast tastes like glue, I asked my reflection, “Man, what happened to you?” He said, “You been floating since a quarter past three,” I said, “That sounds like somebody who ain't me,” Got a green little cloud doing laps in my skull, Every thought starts tiny then it suddenly gets full. [Ad-lib: “Uh-oh…”] I got a busted lawn chair and a telescope brain, Watching Saturn smoke a cigarette in the rain, Neighbor's cat told me that the moon ain't real, Then it stole my sandwich and refused to appeal. [Chorus] I'm a brain full of smoke, With a pocket full of hope, Got a head full of static and a rope with no knot, I'm going nowhere fast but I’m enjoying the lot. Yeah, I'm a brain full of smoke, Just another cosmic joke, If the universe is spinning, let it spin me around, I was looking for the top but I fell through the ground. [Verse 2] Bought a pair of sunglasses for the middle of night, Now the darkness looks better, so I guess that's alright, Got a radio whispering things I shouldn't know, Said, “Turn left at the clouds,” so I followed the glow. Found a purple little doorway behind my TV, Opened it up and found another version of me, He was sitting on a couch with a grin on his face, Said, “Buddy, you're late—we've been saving your place.” [Ad-lib: “Oh, that's weird.”] I asked him for directions, he handed me a spoon, Said, “You gotta stir the sky before you talk to the moon,” I said, “Is this enlightenment?” He said, “Nah, probably not.” Then he disappeared laughing in a polka-dot pot. [Chorus] I'm a brain full of smoke, With a pocket full of hope, Got a head full of static and a rope with no knot, I'm a little bit lost but I like what I got. Yeah, I'm a brain full of smoke, Just another cosmic joke, Everybody wants answers, everybody wants proof, I just wanna watch the ceiling rearrange the roof. [Bridge – psychedelic, increasingly loose] Whoa-oh… The floor got legs… The walls got eyes… My toaster knows my government lies… [Spoken] “Dude…” “What?” “Why is the refrigerator humming?” “I think it's trying to remember a song.” [Verse 3] Now I'm barefoot dancing with a traffic cone, Talking dirty philosophy into my phone, Got existential dread wearing flip-flops and shades, Said, “Nothing really matters.” I said, “Yeah, but I'm paid.” [Ad-lib: “Barely.”] My brain took a vacation, never sent me a note, Came back three weeks later driving somebody's boat, Said, “Life's just a carnival, don't take it too serious,” Then sneezed so hard he accidentally changed the lyrics. [Final Chorus] I'm a brain full of smoke, Still a cosmic joke, Got my feet on the ground but my head in the stars, Trying to find enlightenment underneath my car. I'm a brain full of smoke, Ain't no need to choke, If I can't find the meaning, I'll just make up my own, Then forget what I made when I get back home. [Outro – lazy humming] Mmm-mm… Where'd I put my shoes? [spoken] …Oh. They're on my feet.
