The Sands of Time

Digging in the sands of time, I hit the stones of ages. Strolling on the strand, I'm fine until the torrent rages. Hand upon my hopeless heart, when's forever gonna start? Got a brand new journal, gotta fill the empty pages. Getting through the past days, never saw the last days dying. Looking to the future, all I see is mystifying. Hand upon my heart of hope, feet upon the sticky slope, How to rearrange things, now the times of change are flying? I could have been someone, I could have done something. Never had a drama, never had a comedy. I could have gone somewhere, I could have learned to share. Going through the motions, never had a notion, could have hit the ocean, could have reached the seventh sea. Have another daytime, play another playtime one day. Getting to tomorrow, thirty-one for sorrow, someday. Hand upon my hopeful heart, speeding from a standing start, Writing up my journal, gonna fill its pages some way. Maybe I've been someone, maybe I've done something. Life is not a drama, life is not a tragedy. Seems like I went somewhere, seems like I learned to care. Not an empty notion, not a bad emotion, found a kind of ocean, swam into the seventh sea. Grubbing in the sands of time, I find the hopes of ages ... of ages ... of ages
