But it is no less relevant. Hope you enjoy and encourage you to participate. The WEF estimates there are over 150 million people without homes worldwide. This project is aimed at supporting efforts to help people "made of potential" out of homelessness in co-operation with Homeless Entrepreneurs. Authors Notes: A tree stands as a silent witness to the explosion of homelessness in the United States. Over the past 15 years its doubled to exceed 640,000 lives. The song verses are crafted in a Tanka poetry style with a 5-7-5-7-7 syllable pattern where it narrates the pain from the tree's perspective. But we are not trees; we have the power to rewrite this sad story. [Sorrowful Intro] Roots of sorrow deep Sheltering arms outstretched wide Homeless souls beneath Doubled within my lifetime Falling leaves of shame [Neglected Verse] Irony of kindness Sent abroad, yet local pain Remains, unattended Aching hearts, with empty hands Frozen tears of neglect (tears of neglect) [power chorus] The winds of change, they whisper through my leaves A gentle warning, of the consequence each weaves The less things change, the more we'll have to pay For the price of our indifference, on the darkest day [Desperate Verse] I, a tree, bear witness To the plight, the suffering Blind eyes, turned away From the cries, the desperate Voices, lost in silence (lost in silence) [Vulnerable Verse] My branches, once a haven Now a reminder of failure To act, to make a change Leaving the vulnerable Exposed, to the elements (to the elements) [power chorus] The winds of change, they whisper through my leaves A gentle warning, of the consequence each weaves The less things change, the more we'll have to pay For the price of our indifference, on the darkest day [Forgotten Verse] The winds of justice Howl through my leaves, a lament For the forgotten The overlooked, the neglected A sorrow, that will not cease (will not cease) [Apathetic Verse] In my shadow, they huddle Together, for warmth, for comfort But, I, a tree, feel cold For the indifference, the apathy That grips, the hearts of men (hearts of men) [power chorus] The winds of change, they whisper through my leaves A gentle warning, of the consequence each weaves The less things change, the more we'll have to pay For the price of our indifference, on the darkest day [Burdened Outro] The less things change, the more I feel the weight, the burden Of a world, that turns away From the suffering, the pain And leaves, the vulnerable, to fade (vulnerable to fade) [fade to end] [end]
