[Verse 1] The washing machine at home gave out I dragged the bag three blocks downtown You were reading by machine thirteen Said that one eats quarters, use the green The radio was barely loud But both our feet had found it anyhow [Pre-Chorus] Thirty minutes on a little dial Enough to turn a chore into a smile [Chorus] Spin cycle Saturday Turn a little waiting into something great Round and round, let the week wash out We got time to feel good now Spin cycle Saturday Never thought a small delay could make my day Clean shirt, new name, easy conversation Sometimes good things find you while you're waiting [Verse 2] You fold your towels with a perfect edge Mine look like a weather system landed You show me once, I try again We laugh at how a simple thing can challenge The dryer sings its little tune We walk out talking halfway through the afternoon [Pre-Chorus] Thirty minutes on a little dial Enough to turn a chore into a smile [Chorus] Spin cycle Saturday Turn a little waiting into something great Round and round, let the week wash out We got time to feel good now Spin cycle Saturday Never thought a small delay could make my day Clean shirt, new name, easy conversation Sometimes good things find you while you're waiting [Bridge - intimate solo vocal, piano and strings] I had the day all figured out Till something small went wrong somehow I like the part I didn't plan A fresh shirt and a number in my hand [Instrumental interlude - orchestra and rhythm section, no vocals] [Final Chorus] Spin cycle Saturday Turn a little waiting into something great Round and round, let the week wash out We got time to feel good now Spin cycle Saturday Never thought a small delay could make my day Clean shirt, new name, easy conversation Sometimes good things find you while you're waiting [Outro] Round and round Then out the door A little better than before
