[Verse 1] In the quiet Before the dawn When the sky is empty Cold And drawn Over waters still and deep You were speaking while we sleep [Chorus] Jesus is the light Shining through the dark Jesus is the truth Burning in my heart Jesus is the way Leading us to peace Without the light we cannot see Our Lord Jesus is the light in me [Verse 2] When my heart is formless Void All my plans already destroyed You are hovering over fear You say “Child I’m always near” [Chorus] Jesus is the light Shining through the dark Jesus is the truth Burning in my heart Jesus is the way Leading us to peace Without the light we cannot see Our Lord Jesus is the light in me [Bridge] When I’m trapped in shadows Trapped in silence You break the chains You end the violence (oh) You speak a word My night takes flight You say again “Let there be light” [Chorus] Jesus is the light Shining through the dark Jesus is the truth Burning in my heart Jesus is the way Leading us to peace Without the light we cannot see Our Lord Jesus is the light in me Our Lord Jesus is the light in me
