Your First Engine

[Intro — spoken] One page. One spark. One little world waiting in the dark. Project loaded. Press run. [Verse 1] You didn’t need a tower You didn’t need a team You found a blank white window And hammered out a dream A sprite became a heartbeat A tile became a floor A room became a kingdom When you opened one more door No account asking questions No gate demanding names Just tools across the workbench And a place to build your games [Pre-Chorus] Project, Sprite, Tiles and Map Actor wakes when the Logic snaps Music, Run, the signal is green Look what you made inside the machine [Chorus] This is your first engine Built from nerve and light Turn the little gears Make the whole world come alive This is your first engine No permission, no pretend Draw the road beneath your feet Then build beyond the end Make it, test it Break it, mend it Your idea has a pulse within it One page, one world One beautiful ignition This is your first engine [Verse 2] Top-down through the tall grass Side-scroll across the rain Turn the grid into a corridor And walk it first-person again A hero with a dagger A dog who finds the way A quest behind a question mark A boss that wakes to play Keyboard, pad or touchscreen The smallest rig can sing The oldest laptop in the room Still gets the whole damn thing [Bridge] They said engines should be massive They built walls around the key But you kept the whole thing local And handed creation free Small enough to send to someone Strong enough to hold their home The engine lives inside their file And that file is their own [Final Chorus] This is your first engine Hear the circuits roar Every sprite you ever dreamed Can step across the floor This is your first engine Built for strange and brilliant minds For the kid on the oldest laptop Who was always left behind Make it, test it Play it, send it Every future starts this minute One page, one world No distance left between them This is your first engine [Outro — spoken] The city doesn’t just play games anymore. It presses them. Build successful. Run it.
