Rising Atlas
[Intro: A low, resonant bass hum. The sound of a Geiger counter clicking softly, then fading into a shimmering synth pad.] [Verse 1] In the crimson dust where the monoliths rise, The Vy’keen stare into mechanical eyes. Ancestors of Hirk, carved from honor and bone, Waging a war on a battlefield of stone. They struck at the Sentinels, the steel-winged blight, But the "Great Disconnect" swallowed their light. Now they stand in the outposts, teeth bared at the sky, Guardians of a freedom that’s starting to die. [Verse 2] Deep in the trade-lanes, a sweet, pungent scent, The Gek hide the scars of a legacy spent. From the "First Spawn" cruelty, from the fire and the fleet, To the humble merchant on a lonely street. They traded their empire for units and gold, But the greed of the ancient is still in their hold. A prayer for the systems they crushed in their wake, Before the Convergence made their hearts break. [Chorus: Ethereal and haunting, lots of reverb] Sixteen... the countdown is humming in the air, The Atlas is dreaming, but the dream is a snare. We’re ghosts in a program, iterations of old, Searching for warmth in a universe cold. The stars are just pixels, the planets are sand, Slipping away from the Architect’s hand. [Verse 3] Korvax Prime is a ghost, a memory of glass, Shattered by conquest as the centuries pass. One mind in a million, the Convergence of light, Synthetic survivors in the neon of night. But Nada is screaming in a frequency high, A rebel spirit beneath a simulated sky. Disconnected from Atlas, outside of the fold, A story of freedom that’s yet to be told. [Bridge: Spoken word / Narrative flow – no melody, just rhythmic delivery over a heartbeat pulse] You ask why the cities are gone? Why the ruins are bare? Look to the Sentinels... they are everywhere. The Atlas is dying, the code is in decay, The "Frontier" is a prison to keep us at bay. A trillion worlds, yet we’re always alone, Walking through landscapes that we’ll never own. [Outro: The music strips back to a single pulsing note, fading into static] The Anomaly drifts... Polo is watching the stars fall apart. The simulation is thinning. 16... 16... 16... [Fade out: The sound cuts abruptly into white noise, then silence.]
