When The Dust Settles - 1
WHEN THE DUST SETTLES PART ONE — THE MAN I BECAME Pinoks Vibes I was never born with silver in my hand. No road rolled open. No map was planned. I learned life early, the old-school way— Earn your bread. Keep your word. Stand your ground. Face the day. I grew up in a world where men did not speak about the weight that made them weak. They swallowed the fear. They carried the load. They fixed what was broken… then went back to the road. And somewhere between a young boy’s dreams and an older man’s scars, I became the kind of man who learned to navigate without stars. --- I wore a uniform. Not for applause. Not for glory. Not because I thought I would become a hero in somebody else’s story. I wore it because somebody had to stand when others stepped away. Somebody had to hold the line when night swallowed the day. I saw what pressure does to people. I saw courage. I saw fear. I saw good men disappear from lives they once held dear. I learned that danger does not always shout. Sometimes it waits. Sometimes it smiles. Sometimes it shakes your hand while quietly measuring your doubts. But I stayed. Not because I never feared. I stayed because people were behind me… and I knew why I was there. --- HOOK When the dust settles, when the noise is gone, When the medals lose their shine and the road rolls on, Don’t ask how many battles this tired man won. Ask who he protected. Ask who he loved. Ask if he stood when the standing got tough. When the dust settles… that will be enough. --- The world took me far from familiar skies. Across borders, airports, seas and lies. From African heat to foreign sand, I worked where trust was thin and danger always had the upper hand. I stood at gates where thousands passed. I watched every shadow. I questioned every mask. I carried responsibility that few would ever see, Because one small mistake could become a memory. There were nights in Iraq when sleep came light. Mornings when the sun felt far too bright. Days when home was only a voice on a phone, And strength meant pretending you were not alone. There were waters where pirates hunted steel, Where fear was present but never allowed to take the wheel. There were mines, airports, borders and storms. Different countries. Different threats. The same old uniform. --- I learned that courage is not a man without fear. It is a man who feels it… and still stays near. It is standing your post when your heart says run. It is doing the job until the job is done. I carried duty like a weight in my chest. I gave the years that demanded my best. And though the world may forget the names, The dust remembers who walked through the flames. --- FINAL HOOK When the dust settles, when the noise is gone, When the medals lose their shine and the road rolls on, Don’t ask how many battles this tired man won. Ask who he protected. Ask who he loved. Ask if he stood when the standing got tough. When the dust settles… that will be enough. And if you ask where the story began… It began with a boy who became a man. A man without riches. A man without rest. A man who kept walking… and gave life his best.
