enlightenment isn't a destination...

I climbed the mountain looking for the view Read every book that said it held the truth Sat in silence til my legs went numb Waiting for the light to come But every step I took to find my way Just carried me further from today Enlightenment isn't a destination It's where you are It's where you are No revelation, no elevation Just the beating of your heart You've never been far You've never been far I chased the gurus and the holy ground Searched for God in every sacred sound Held my breath waiting to transcend Looking for a beginning at the end But nothing real can be threatened here And nothing unreal was ever near Enlightenment isn't a destination It's where you are It's where you are No revelation, no elevation Just the beating of your heart You've never been far You've never been far The cloud does not put out the sun The seeking's over now, it's done Just breathe Just be You're already free Enlightenment isn't a destination It's where you are It's where you are No revelation, no elevation Just the beating of your heart You've never been far You've never been far You've never been far You've never been far
