"Течёт река " Lyrics (c) 2025 SmileDj used with permission https://suno.com/@smiledj Music Arrangement (c) 2025 Remix by Annie https://suno.com/@RemixByAnnie ---------***------------***----------***----- Течет река в неведомые дали. ****English translation **** The river runs to distances unknown, It seeks the hush where Rus’ lies half-asleep. There’s much we haven’t told her, all our own, And I don’t reach for high-flown words to keep. A meander hides itself within the vale. By evening, mist has drifted from the sky, And with a simple satchel I set sail Along the bed, where endless banks lie by. The river flows (it flows) Toward where Old Rus’ reposes— A land of love, a land of heavy woes; I’m not the one for pomp and swelling poses. What waits for me beyond that bending line— Wide fields, or else a darker, ancient wood? A channel silt has turned to marsh and brine, Where Leshy—badge of fairy wonders—stood. No shouting hues, no garments loud with glare; Here time itself has slackened down its tread. A land of love, a land of weighty care, And here still lives Prophetic Oleg. ▫️Rus’ (Old Rus’, Kievan Rus’) — a medieval East Slavic realm (9th–13th c.); used poetically to mean the ancestral homeland of the East Slavs, not modern Russia specifically. ▫️Leshy (Leshii) — a forest spirit in Slavic folklore; a trickster guardian of the woods who can change size and lead travelers astray. ▫️Prophetic Oleg (Oleg the Prophet) — a semi-legendary Varangian ruler of Novgorod/Kyiv (c. 9th–10th c.), famed in the Primary Chronicle and later poetry; his epithet means “the Seer.”
