[instrumental intro] Socks pulled up like every morning Shoes slipped on you always wear The coat that’s with you thru thick and thin Is this the day your long walk begins [chorus] Put one foot in front of the other And soon you will find wide open doors Put one foot in front of the other And soon you’ll discover what’s in store [verse] The simple way forward has caused you to stumble It's been straight and narrow but not very humble [pre chorus] It brags that it’s flat and you don’t need directions But ignores all the struggles and constant corrections Step off the way you walk each day Put on some shoes you rarely use A new way forward a new destination A new state of mind in a new location [chorus] Put one foot in front of the other And soon you’ll know what all of this is for Take one leap and then another Don’t look back at missteps you made before [verse] If this trip is worth a story With twists and turns along the way Then the telling won't be boring And the details you may miss will be ok [chorus] Put one foot in front of the other And soon you'll see what this is for Take one leap and then another And soon you’ll discover what’s in store
