[Verse] They mocked him there beneath the sky so wide The King of Israel hung crucified He saved the lost yet bore their cruel disdain A crown of thorns his earthly reign [Chorus] Come down they cried and prove your throne But love held him there for us alone A power beyond what eyes could see The King of the Cross chose Calvary [Verse 2] He healed the sick and raised the dead But on the cross no words he said Rejected scorned by those he sought A sacrifice that grace had bought [Bridge] Oh the world could not comprehend A love that bends but does not end For mercy lived where pride would fall The King of kings gave it all [Chorus] Come down they cried and prove your throne But love held him there for us alone A power beyond what eyes could see The King of the Cross chose Calvary [Verse 3] Let us not forget the price he paid Through pain Through death the gift he made Not from the cross he would descend But rise to life to never end
