You were alone for a time in your life Separated from me and was barely a life I hated that you were always by yourself I couldn’t figure out why you were always like this But when we were together your love was pure bliss. But I remember the night you never came home That night was so quiet I hated being alone No body on my bedside to kiss me goodnight You couldn’t even answer when I called because you didn’t have your phone. I tried to leave a message after the tone. Baby please answer the phone it’s been too long, and I’m started to get worried That something happened to you and I’m pacing around wondering what when wrong, Then I remembered you were with the band off writing a new song. Days pass by and I finally got a call, He can go home but he’s gotta come back To the courthouse to work it all out. A week goes by and your best friend called he told me what happened about that night with the car. You were driving with your bandmates to gig across town the lead singer got high and left the evidence in your car, So when you got pulled over they tested every body but you got blamed, So much for those friends they never had your back, The judge called your name up to the stand Put your hand in this Bible and state the truth Because if you lie, we’ll hold it against you He stated his case and pleaded for his life, A One day lock up was the final call. But 300 hours of community service had him backed against the wall. Finish this first and will revisit this case The judge hit the gavel to dismiss the case. I remember as you walked away taking off your shirt from the buckets of sweat, The tattoo of your grandfathers pocket watch stretched across your back That tattoo means so much more that just that, 13 hands on the clock The hours pass by From a choice he didn’t wana make But took a hit from the drive by 13 hours locked up in a cell Ordered by the Judge And it felt like hell, One bed and a Bible in a room by itself I guess I better listen, or I’m going to hell. 13 Hours pass by Rising Slower then sun When I get out, I’ll be on the run. I ain’t ever coming back to this place again, 13 hours of this, I’ll never do it again. I learned my lesson I’ll be on my own, but one day I’ll find a love and have a son of my own. This time I’ll be mindful of my friends, but I’ll never know when my life will begin again.
